I have not updated this site with new content since 2008, which was about the same time I stopped taking new per-hour web design clients. I upgraded WordPress a couple of times since then, but had not really checked on the site much, as I wasn’t actively doing this business model.
Well, leaving a site so long unattended is not good. I was hacked and in a subtle way with hidden backlinks within every single post and page on this site. Ugh!
So first thing I did was to delete all the posts and pages, all the unused plugins and themes, changed my password and upgraded everything on the site.
It’s a pain – but a lesson learned not to let sites sit dormant, or hackers will find a way in.
