Affiliate Programs

If you’ve surfed the web much at all, I’m sure you’ve heard the term “affiliate” before. What is it exactly? Affiliates are people who send you business, and in return, receive a commission for sales generated by people who have come from their web site to yours. So it’s basically like having your own marketing sales force driving new customers to your web site.

Generally, an affiliate signs up for your program. They then add a banner or text link from their web site to yours. When visitors come to the affiliate’s web site, and they click the banner or link and go to your web site, and then place an order, a percentage of that sale is given back to the affiliate. It’s a very lucrative and profitable way to grow your business!

The system I’m using to track my affiliates is a simple and easy one to setup. However, affiliate software can get very complex, and very expensive, depending on what features you want it to do.
