Why every business needs a web site

I can not fathom why any business in the world today would not have a web site. Even if your business does not sell anything over the web, you still need a web site. Why? Because today’s world is high-tech, instant information oriented. It’s quicker and easier to hop online and do a web search to find what you’re looking for - even if what they’re looking for is down the road in their own town - than it is to drag out the phone book. Our fingers are still “doing the walking”, but instead of using the yellow pages, we’re using a keyboard.

Having a web presence will provide a quick and easy means for potential customers/clients to find out what you do/sell, where you’re located and what your business hours are. This information is available 24/7 to everyone all over the world. You can’t put a price tag on that type of advertising coverage.

Now that you’re convinced that you need a web site, please, PLEASE hire a professional web site designer to create a site for you. Everyone knows someone’s neighbor’s son’s bestfriend’s uncle who can build a web site for you. But ask yourself this: do they know what they’re doing? Do they do this for a living, or do they happen to have a computer with some software on it that says it can build in a web site in 15 minutes? This web site is going to be the first impression people will have of your company. Do you want that impression to be that you don’t care enough about your business to have a web site professionally done? Do you want your web presence to look amateurish, or like you know what you’re doing, have your act together and are a serious business professional?
